The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Ann was founded by a pious couple, the Marquis Carlo Tancredi and Marchioness Guilia Colbert of Barolo in the year 1834 in Turin Italy for the Noble cause of educating and forming children and youth belonging to the needy and less wealthy families with the conviction that poverty and illiteracy are the two principle wounds of the society and educating children will influence the whole family.

They established schools as well as vocational centers to ensure that children and youth would grow, live in dignity and fulfill their vocation as human beings who could contribute to the building of society according to the values of Jesus Christ
